The medical system is focused on healing the sick whereas it needs to focus on making people well, according to this talk by medical researcher Aaron Leppin.
Aaron Leppin, MD is an implementation scientist in the Knowledge and Evaluation Research Unit at Mayo Clinic and an Assistant Professor in its Division of Health Care and Policy Research. His research focuses on the development of strategies that increase communities’ capacity to partner with healthcare and engage in self-directed and evidence-based health promotion. In collaboration with diverse stakeholders, he seeks to develop innovative and scalable models for improving population health and enabling a more socially connected and empathic society. He lives in Rochester with his wife, Beth, who is a teacher at Mayo High School.
